The sections of the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) that may be relevant to the use of FLOORCO floor covering products depend on the building’s design, location, and intended use.
As internal floor finishes, these products may be subject to consideration under the following NZBC Performance Clauses:
B2 – Durability
C3 – Fire Affecting Areas Beyond the Fire Source
D1 – Access Routes
F2 – Hazardous Building Materials
The relevance and application of these clauses are project-specific and do not imply that any individual floor finish product, when used in isolation, achieves compliance with the New Zealand Building Code.
This information is provided for reference only to assist in understanding potential regulatory considerations. Assessment of compliance with the NZBC remains the responsibility of the project designer and the Building Consent Authority.
Please note:
Where the original approved building documentation specifies a particular floor finish (such as tiles, vinyl, or similar products), a Minor Variation may be required before an alternative flooring system is installed. Installation should not proceed until the appropriate approval has been obtained. Failure to do so may result in the product not being accepted by the Building Consent Authority during inspection.
The information provided on this page, together with any associated technical documents, is intended as explanatory material only to assist in understanding regulatory considerations, including those arising from post-2021 standards. Assessment of compliance with the NZBC remains the responsibility of the project designer and the Building Consent Authority.
