Handcrafted uncomfortable flooring is a real art. It requires more than just beating the floor with various tools and other objects. Most experienced craftsmen have years of experience in trying different tools and techniques, and many of them have developed their own styles.

They will use wire brushes to add additional textures, chains, hammers, ice axes, drills, chisels and saw blades to create an overall effect of dents, cracks and worms.

Another popular technique is to add burn marks by using heated bolts and nuts or soldering iron. In order to highlight these effects, dyes, inks, acids or black wood fillers can be added. Scrape off to give the floor the desired appearance.
